India and Medical Tourism

Here's an article that caught my attention.

It holds special fascination for me because at the end of this month I'll be traveling to Chennai, India with my brother. He'll be undergoing hip surgery. I should have some good reports from the frontline of India's medical tourism business.

I'm currently reading Thomas Friedman's book, "The World is Flat". Certainly medical tourism is a prime example of a consequence of this flattening world. More on that later...

I am the brother referred to by Peter. We leave from Chicago on Sunday afternoon and fly on to to Chennai, India with a short stop in Paris.

This is an experiment to see if we can generate a journal of the trip and our experience in a new and different place.

We will be posting photos and text as we proceed.

Hope some of you join the dialogue. I suspect the blog will be interesting in direct proportion to the participation outside Peter and myself.

Let us begin!

Good Morning Neil and Peter,
Here in SE Arizona we are fortunate to have one day of rain-today. I am keeping tabs on both your adventures. Right now, I want you to know Neil that you are strongly in my prayers and heart and the 27the nears. Blessings on a remarkable surgery and a speedy recovery.
Much love and hugs,

Pete and Neil,

It looks as though you two are making the most of your trip. From the Foster's in Kansas City, we wish Neil a quick recovery! We know you are in good hands with Pete. Also, I was wondering if Pete could comment on the Indian Coffee Houses and the local beers? I know by now you have found both, but I haven't seen where you have mentioned either. Pete, we're very proud of you for assisting Neil on this trip!

ps. Did you offer to hook up the Indian Hospital with your "Scanning Inventory" business proposal yet? Hope you both have a great time together, and a very safe return trip!

Rob, Kelley, and the kids (Harley)

ps. Pete, one of K.U.'s top basketball freshman just transferred to Gonzaga last week! Looks as though your "Zags" may be pretty good again for years to come!

Hi, Neil! Saw your sister Ellen last night at the Myrna Loy for a dance performance by a Vietnamese choreographer and his troupe and she said to check out the blog to see photos of you in your hospital gown! Great to see you looking well and to hear you are sleeping a lot and starting physcial therapy. Heidi Goldman shreiked when she saw your realtor postcard and realized who it was! Hugs, Constance
