Neil Update

Just got off the phone with Neil. It is Sunday night in India and he is back at the MGM Quality Inn Resort after his Pondicherry excursion. He is set to head back into Chennai tomorrow midday. He will be getting a check-up from Dr. Bose and it looks as if an interview with Good Morning America is on tap. He doesn't have any details about the interview. The trip gets more and more interesting.

He will be flying out of Chennai early Tuesday morning. Ken - Neil's flight is set to head out next Friday but he will explore opportunities for staying the weekend.

Pete,

Thanks for the update. I hope you've been able to acclimate back to your life in St. Louis. Do you still see blogging as a good option for your venture?

Have a great week!

Take care,

Ellen

Turn on the recorders--we MUST capture our brother in action on GMA! Amazing. This world is getting both weirder and smaller.

Thanks for the update on Neil's itinerary, Pete. If staying over the weekend is a hassle, Neil, stick to the original plan. We'll catch up down the road. But yes, if it's a fairly easy switch to a later flight, we'd love to see you.

Pete,

Thanks for the updates. How have you been communicating with Neil? Traditional phone? VOIP? Something else? Also, did you ever hear from Mohan regarding participation in an interview for GMA. Regards to Becky and Kieran.

Neil,

Golden opportunity during the interview to broadcast your brand. Realtor from Santa Fe with real world experience in Indian medical tourism. Hmmm - seems like the aging baby boomer segment might be very interested. Hope the checkup and trip back to the States goes well for you.

Neil,

So how does an American realtor find a hospital and doctor in India? Why would he? Enquiring minds want to know!

Take care,

Ellen

Let me answer some of the questions.

Neil and I have communicated via POTS (Plain old telephone system). When I did have a high-speed connection Skype worked really well and I would recommend it.

I have not heard back from Mohan so Neil will have to carry the Egan torch for GMA. Besides, my agent says I should hold out for the Today show.

I do intend to keep this blog going. As for a business blog, that will wait for the time being until we have better defined our market and product/services.

How does an American find a doctor/hospital? The 60 Minutes report has had the most impact for Apollo and Dr. Bose since he was interviewed for that report. Everyone mentioned that as the primary reason that people have hear d about Apollo. Why would anyone chose India? First, for cost. If you don't have health insurance then this may be the only viable option. (And if you're from Canada you are simply tired of being on a waiting list that doesn't seem to get any shorter.) Second, in Neil's case Hip Resurfacing isn't available yet in the United States. For those who want a surgery that provides a means to return to an active lifestyle, this is it.

Later,
Pete

Well done, Pete!

I think they should be interviewing you since you've got all the answers. I'm sure Neil has it well thought out also, eh? Neil, we're pulling for you as you carry that torch!

So, Pete, if you could get a 60 minutes story about RFID and Senetric, it sounds like a pretty good marketing plan! Unless, of course, they've come to find dirt like in the case of Montana Power before it's ugly downfall!

Have a great week everyone!

Neil,

How did your checkup go. This is your last night in India, right?

Sleep well!

Greetings,
Home and Dry. I have arrived in St. Louis. I was tired at just the right time and slept thruogh the night. Great start. Then, I streched out the couch about eleven to get off my feet and woke up when Peter and Kieran got home at 5:30. Oh oh. Could be trouble in the adjustment process.
Been several days since I checked in. My last words were "os course it's going to be interesting!". Well, it was. My taxi turned out to be an auto rickshaw. I had the option od insisting on a car but decided to give it a go. The driver had the opportunity to make the money himself and he picked up a friend for a "road trip". They had a great time and I survived a 3 hour rickshaw ride on the highway. The next day someone wanted me to see their huse and meet the family. We made arrangements to meet in th morning at the gate. He would come in a car and give me a ride-showed up on a motorcycle! So I hadmy first motorcycle ride-a short one.
This is an employee at the resort and they live about a half mile away in a one room hut witha grass roof. Charles hopes to build a little bigger place with stone walls and a metal roof. Challenge because the basics take up all of a meager salary. They are Catholic and their daughter had her first communion this past Sunday. She wore a white, lacy dress that will look famliar to any Catholic from the past 3 generations. I hope the dress gets to travel as it is a one time major expense for these folks.
Long, long flight home. I feel good and received the help I needed to get around with my luggage. I was comfortable in the plane seats so all is well.
I will return to write about the interveiw with the Today Show. Now I need a little nap.

Glad you made it stateside, Neil! What an interesting final few days you had in India. Are you flying to Santa Fe on Friday? Since you seem to be recovering your U.S. time, we'll wait until tomorrow (Thursday) to call.

Neil,

Welcome Home! Rest Up! The various means of transportation sounded rather grueling. I trust your visit with the doctor went ok?

Neil,

Welcome back to the States, bro. I don't think that I'm alone in telling you that we're glad to have you back home. Now, you need to tell us about your doctor's visit and the interview. I need my blog fix! Take care.
